Vitamin K
Like vitamin groups A, D and E, vitamin K is a fat-soluble vitamin and plays an important role in blood clotting.
Among other things, vitamin K ensures that calcium is incorporated into the bones and is not deposited in the arteries and blood vessels. Vitamin K is also involved in normal blood clotting.
The vitamin K requirement for adult men up to 51 years of age is 70 μg: for women it is 60 μg. It can usually be covered by a balanced diet. Newborns are given additional vitamin K by the pediatrician.
